There are a lot of games you have played for five minutes and begged for your money back. I try my hardest not to do that, give the game a good solid hour. Sometimes I go out on a limb and give it two, and just wait for it to capture my heart and soul, and prove to me that it is in fact worth my time, and not worth my damn money back. No, you will not see Borderlands in this article. For a very good reason.
Aliens vs Predator (2010) I’m a godlike marine from the old school AvP2, and when I picked up this game disgust and disappointment was not enough hatred felt for this piece of crap copy cat. Crappy console port with P2P networking resulting in ass biting lagfests, and it didn’t even capture the atmosphere. Then I played it at a LAN, with zero lag, and all I could say was “I’m home.” I never woulda thunk it, but it felt like the old AvP2. I still haven’t played single player of either! Lag makes a big difference.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : Shadow Of Chernobyl I know, I know. What was I thinking? The 2nd best Russian masterpiece after the Ak47 and it’s wobbly barrel. The buggy, clunky, awkward, and stupid difficulty I thought were the marks of a poor design and execution combo. It ended up to be the single greatest 3D Post Apoc I have ever played.
Fallout: Tactics Just about all of you will say that it still sucks. It’s Fallout, with Tactics. ’nuff said.
